Human Performance Laboratory Valencell works with The Human Performance Laboratory to conduct internal validation and reliability trials of developing technology. Trials include testing the validation and reliability of heart rate, oxygen consumption, calorie utilization, speed, and distance during exercise using Valencell’s V-LINC™ sensors and operating system. The Human Performance Laboratory also coordinates external clinical trials with researchers at academic institutions for external validation.

N.C. State Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering Valencell has been granted an NSF Phase 2 STTR Award for developing a mobile, wearable, noninvasive blood analyte sensor that can be worn throughout everyday life activities. As part of this STTR Program, Valencell will be working with the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at North Carolina State University to generate multiwavelength emitters. Valencell will generate and validate mobile, wearable sensor modules integrating these multiwavelength emitters.

Duke Center for Living In Spring 2008, Valencell was one of 6 recipients of the NC IDEA award. Valencell used these funds to complete preliminary validation testing of proprietary V-LINC™ technology at the Duke Center for Living. This relationship with Duke medical researchers has grown over the years, and Valencell completed clinical validation testing in 2010 supported by an NIH-funded study based at the Duke Center for Living.

Best Buy Capital In 2011, Valencell received $5.5 million in a Series B venture investment led by Best Buy Capital. Best Buy Capital was launched by Best Buy Co., Inc. to serve as a corporate venture-capital arm for emerging technologies. Best Buy Capital focuses the Core Fund and the Alpha Fund. The Core fund focuses on investment opportunities for existing business units. Alpha makes direct investments in early-stage companies, such as Valencell, that are developing emerging technologies or inventions unavailable to the marketplace.
